The Port Mansfield Pavilion, built in 1999, is a 7200 sq ft steel building with a 576 sq ft kitchen attached. An office area and mezzanine upstairs take up the west 20 ft of the building, with another office, large restrooms and storage area below.
The pavilion is equipped with a new stage, compliments of VTCI in 2014, a very high quality PA system with large speakers in each of the 4 corners of the main building, thanks again to VTCI several years ago. A new projector, purchased in 2015, can be placed on a ceiling-hung platform which is hard wired to the PA or to your laptop next to the stage, or the projector can be set on a table to view photos, videos, etc., on our large projection screen.
We currently have seating inside for 210, but room for at least 250 if standing or if managers bring extra seating for their events. Scales are available for weighing fish during events, ranging from a few ounces for Piggy Perch events up to our 1200 lb rated scale on the dock. The scales are all calibrated annually in July by a licensed firm. The lighted dock is 91.5 ft long with a deck of matching length on the upper level. The deck is surrounded by safety railing and even with the two sets of aluminum bleachers, there is plenty of walk around room, great for watching harbor activity and for seeing the catches unloaded during fishing tournaments. The dock is equipped with a “Pumpout Station” for larger vessels and a 120VAC 15A duplex receptacle.
The pavilion roof was replaced in 2015, and there are plans to upgrade the commercial kitchen, move the office area, replace siding, extend the dock, and other projects, some of which will be completed in 2016. The parking lot has room for 60 cars and pickups, and vehicles pulling boat trailers can be accommodated on the lot during smaller events. Empty lots adjacent to the parking lot to the south are currently being used for parking during large events, especially for vehicles pulling trailers.
The pavilion is available for rental for many types of events, scheduled and reserved with a deposit. There is an extra charge for the use of the PA system/projector, kitchen, office area or scales and there are charges for cleanup; daily and/or post-event only. The facility must be kept clean and sanitary during the event, and waste must be disposed of properly per the rental contract, upon possible forfeiture of deposit.
The kitchen, office areas and restrooms are air conditioned, and two 10-ton portable units are available to cool the main building at an extra charge. We need a few days’ notice to allow installation of the portable A/C units, which are also equipped with 15KW heat.
